"For as the earth brings forth its sprouts,
and as a garden causes what is sown to sprout up,
so the Lord God will cause
righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations."

FAQ

How did this idea start?
In 2010 the staff at Carmel began to run with the idea of digging up a piece of our relatively large field to the west of the building to make room for a small garden, after the idea surfaced from Ted McKellar.  The enthusiasm spread from the staff to students to the greather community.

Why a garden?

In Edmonton we see community gardens 'cropping' up in the most unlikely of places, many with the goal of aiding those in need.  As great as this project can be, we realize that it is ultimately empty if it does not point our attention to our Creator God and his sustaining love.  In this gardening endeavor, our hope is that we will not only be physically reminded of God's abounding goodness through the variety of colors and flavors in the produce, but also be reminded of our dependence upon him in all of life.

As we are situated in a residential area, our other hope is that this garden will aid the Carmel community in being salt and light to our neighbors, allowing this garden to be a pointer to new life and hope.  Similarly we hope that this garden will add beauty and diversity to our property and our neighborhood.

How can I get involved?
Please pray for this endeavor; pray that people will be blessed in and through this ministry.  If you like to help out in any way, please contact Elly.
