Staff Profile: Elly Doef

Elly.jpg

Elly Doef grew up in the country just west of Lacombe, Alberta, where her Mom and Dad own and operate a vegetable greenhouse. She is the youngest of 5 children, but only by 5 minutes as she has a twin brother. Elly comes to Mount Carmel with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology (The King’s University College), and a Master of Christian Studies (Regent College). She has studied one semester at Jerusalem University College in Israel and has spent a year teaching English in Thailand.

Elly is the supervisor of Mount Carmel’s Impact program, directing and encouraging our students in the various ways that they are serving in our community. Elly teaches a class that is connected to the Impact program, focusing on what Christian service looks like in our culture and what it means to be Christ to our neighbours. On top of that, Elly helps organize a few of the yearly trips that Carmel takes and in the summertime is the coordinator of Mount Carmel’s community garden.

Elly loves cooking, playing volleyball, reading children’s books, drinking good coffee with good friends and gardening. She likes other things, but like these five things the most.
